Entry & Visas
Many nationalities (under EO 408) get 30 days visa‑free on arrival with onward ticket and passport validity; extensions are possible at BI offices. Rules change—verify with your local Philippine embassy/consulate before travel.

Connectivity & Money
Globe and Smart have the widest coverage; DITO is expanding. Tourist SIM/eSIMs are sold at airports/malls. Buy data packages (e.g., 10–20 GB). Signal is strong in cities; islands and rural areas can be spotty.
PHP is the currency. ATMs are common in cities and larger towns; carry cash on islands. Cards accepted at hotels/restaurants in tourist areas; smaller vendors are cash only. Use bank ATMs where possible to reduce fees.
Transport
Hubs: Manila (MNL), Cebu (CEB). Carriers: Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, AirAsia. Ferries (2GO, Montenegro, OceanJet) link nearby islands; weather can affect schedules—build buffer days.
Grab operates in major cities. Taxis are metered—insist on the meter. Jeepneys and tricycles cover short distances; confirm fare before riding.
Health & Safety
Dry season is generally Nov–May. Typhoons are possible Jun–Nov (peak Aug–Oct). Monitor PAGASA advisories and adjust plans accordingly.
Petty theft occurs in crowded areas—watch belongings. Follow local advisories, particularly for parts of Mindanao where some governments issue travel advisories. Use licensed guidebooks for hikes and water activities.
